Glossary
The vocabulary, defined plainly.
- AV and UC estate
- The portfolio of audiovisual and unified-communications endpoints across an enterprise, including video-conferencing room systems (Zoom Rooms, Teams Rooms, Webex, Cisco endpoints), codecs, cameras, microphones, displays, room PCs, control systems (Crestron, Q-SYS), and the rooms that contain them. Utelogy's primary scope.
- Device DNA™
- CybrIQ's patented Layer-1 device identification method. Derives device identity from signals the managed switch reads about the device (link negotiation, MAC OUI, LLDP, port statistics, VLAN context) rather than from signals the device chooses to report about itself.
- L1 / Level 1
- First-tier support. The help-desk shift that opens the ticket. L1 call savings is one of Utelogy's three published savings levers (67% reduction).
- MTTR
- The average elapsed time from incident open to incident close. Utelogy's primary published savings lever (75% reduction within 60 days via self-healing automation).
- NDAA Section 889
- National Defense Authorization Act, Section 889. Prohibits federal contractors from using or buying covered telecommunications and video-surveillance equipment from specifically named entities (Huawei, ZTE, Hytera, Hikvision, Dahua). CybrIQ identifies covered hardware on the network at Layer 1, including when the device has been shipped under a different label.
- Read-only SNMP
- The network-management protocol read access CybrIQ uses against managed switches. SNMP write is not used, granted, or required. The customer's network team controls the credentials.
- Reference library
- CybrIQ's 750-million-device fingerprint corpus. Every Layer-1 read is matched against this library to identify the device vendor and model class.
- Self-healing automation
- Utelogy capability that closes a meaningful share of room incidents through scripted remote remediation before a help-desk tech needs to intervene. Drives the published 75% MTTR and 67% L1 outcomes.
- Single pane of glass
- Industry shorthand for a unified operations dashboard within a single product. Utelogy uses the phrase for its own Utelyze console; CybrIQ uses its own for the CybrIQ inventory dashboard. The two products do not share a pane. Customers running both operate each in its own dashboard and aggregate downstream in their ITSM / SIEM. See why buying both through Utelogy still makes sense.
- SNMP
- The standard protocol for reading state from managed network switches. CybrIQ uses SNMP v3 with read-only permissions; v2c is supported where the customer's network requires it.
- Truck roll
- Dispatching an on-site technician to resolve an incident. Typical loaded cost $300–$500 per dispatch for an AV-equipped conference room. See the truck-roll-economics article.
- Unified Intelligence
- Utelogy's tagline. The platform's premise is that AV and UC operations data, joined across manufacturer-agnostic endpoints, supports data-driven operating decisions across the enterprise room portfolio.
- Utelyze
- Utelogy's secure software platform. The unified-intelligence layer for AV and UC estates.
- Volt Typhoon
- CISA-named state-affiliated threat actor with a documented pattern of pre-positioning on US critical-infrastructure edge devices. Has raised the federal and SLED attention on hardware-inventory completeness. See the carrier-questions article for the insurance-side angle.
